Welcome to The Stair Rod Shop FAQs page:
On this page we answer some of the most common questions regarding our stair rods, and our delivery policy.
Stair Rod FAQs:
Q: Are the stair rods solid brass ?
A:
Yes, our stair rods are made of thick gauge solid brass tube. Most original stair rods were either tube or
'cased brass'. This means that a thin skin of brass was wrapped around a steel core. Even in days gone by,
brass was an expensive material.
Q: Do our rods need to be polished ?
A:
Some people prefer their rods to remain shiny, so we offer these customers a tough lacquered finish. These
will not need polishing. The polished brass (unlacquered) will age and mellow with time.
Q: How do I know what length of stair rods to order for my particular staircase ?
A:
For a runner carpet we just need to know the width of the carpet.
With a full width carpet, it is customary to leave a small gap either end of the stairrod. Please let us
know your required tip-to-tip measurement.
When placing your order through a current listing, please enter your measurements on the
Information page
Q: Can I alter my measurements if I change my mind ?
A:
If you want to shorten your stair rods, this can be done easily with a hacksaw; longer stair rods will
need to be reordered.
Q: Can I return my stair rods ?
A:
We can not offer a refund on stair rods that have been cut to customer's measurements, unless they prove to be
faulty. If for any reason you are unhappy with your stair rods, please contact us straightaway and we will
endeavour to rectify any problems you might have.
Delivery FAQs:
Q: How do I know that I qualify for free delivery within the terms of mainland UK ?
A:
We use FedEx, one of the UK's largest freight companies. There are certain destinations that incur an additional cost
despite being within the UK. These include Northern Ireland, the Highlands of Scotland and most off-shore islands.
If you are not sure please quote your post code and we will get back to you.
Q: Do you ship worldwide ?
A:
Yes, but it is important to realise that stair rods are heavy items which will incur high delivery costs.
